I had a chance to light off the new rifles today. I tried out some 60 grain "subsonic" ammunition in .22 first. There was a distinct ballistic crack, unlike the CCI 29 grain subsonic. Accuracy tests will have to come later. I only tried 2 loads in the .300 Win Mag, a base 150 grain softpoint, and a 180 grain Winchester Sxt. The 150 grain round was very manageable, with a fierce muzzle flash. The 180 grain rounds had a stout felt recoil, and the muzzle violence I had anticipated. I mean it knocked snow from the tree branches we were under. Full accuracy and penetration tests will follow. The new door has been installed in the Team Cannibal lounge - a full 8x17! The TOC upgrades continue. I picked up more ammunition for testing later, notably Hornady TAP in .40, Winchester subsonic in .40 [both 180 grain], Federal 00 buck LE load 12 ga., and some others. Weather permitting, the Cannibal box of truth will reveal the energy transfer of all the brands of ammunition we have collected. I look forward to putting the .300 Win Mag against Donns eastern bloc howitzers. We may even roll video on the spalling abilities against steel plate.
